Can Girls Do Muscle-Ups?

Today, we’re tackling a question I hear all the time and even asked myself once: Can girls do muscle-ups?

The answer… YES WE CAN!

In this post, I want to share 4 inspiring examples of girls who are absolutely crushing muscle-ups.

Women of all ages and backgrounds around the world are proving that muscle-ups are achievable, and you best believe that it’s possible for you too!

MUSCLE-UP STATISTICS & MOTIVATION

Before we get into the examples, let’s talk numbers.

Did you know that less than 1% of the world’s population can do a muscle-up?

We need to bump those numbers up!

This highlights just how unique and challenging the muscle-up is.

It’s rare, but definitely achievable with the right strength and skill training.

Just like anyone else, girls need to practice and build their strength to nail their first muscle-up.

I struggled with muscle-ups for a long time, but with persistence and the right training plan, I finally achieved it.

This journey taught me that anyone, regardless of gender, can master the muscle-up with dedication and the right approach.

First, we have Nadine. Nadine is a world-champion street lifter who holds world records for the heaviest one-rep max in chin-ups, dips, and muscle-ups.

Nadine has been, and continues to be, a huge source of inspiration for me (girl crush). Watching her make muscle-ups look effortless completely shifted my mindset from thinking they were impossible to believing they were achievable for me.

Her impressive strength and determination have not only helped her master the muscle-up but have also taken it to another level with weighted muscle-ups.

Nadine’s resilient mindset, persistence and determination prove that women can not only excel at muscle-ups, but can become strong af and push beyond the status quo!

Nadine continues to redefine what’s possible with her impressive strength and resilient mindset to redefine what’s possible.

Her relentless pursuit to become her best, encourages other girls to redefine whats possible.

Our next inspiration is Summer.

Summer is a master of all things calisthenics, making complex movements look effortless.

She was the first example I saw of a girl doing a calisthenics muscle-up, and she also helped me believe it was possible.

Despite people telling her she couldn’t do a pull-up, let alone a muscle-up, she redefined her own limits and proved them wrong.

Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and self-belief.

Summer is also a huge advocate for female empowerment, challenging societal norms around how we think and talk about women and fitness - and it’s super badass.

MEGHAN CALLAWAY

Despite injuries from a bad car accident and starting her muscle-up journey later in life, Meghan has shown that age is just a number.

The dedication and hard work she’s put into achieving her first ever muscle up is truly inspiring.

Her slow muscle-up game is next level!

EMIKA
